Este MWC estará lleno de revolucionarios equipos que darán de una vez el giro al mercado, como un gran competidor Huawei ha decidido tomar una nueva estrategia con sus dispositivos móviles lanzando al mercado dos versiones: Huawei P8 y Huawei P8 Lite. Mientras que la versión estándar sirve a la firma como referencia en la gama alta, el apellido «Lite» se ha utilizado para una variante de diseño muy similar, pero con especificaciones técnicas inferiores y un precio más accesible. Para la nueva generación, de nuevo Huawei repetirá la misma estrategia.

Huawei se acerca al nivel de Apple con la tecnología Force Touch Display.

El nuevo Huawei P9 será la apuesta de la marca para liderar la gama alta, luego será la competencia directa del Samsung Galaxy S7 y, de momento, el iPhone 6s de Apple. Por supuesto, hará frente también al Sony Xperia Z5 y el LG G5, muchos de ellos aún por presentar. Lo que se sabe hasta la fecha es que montará un procesador de fabricación propia, previsiblemente el SoC Kirin 950. Y estos datos aún sin confirmación oficial apuntan, por otra parte, a que montará ya el lector de huellas dactilares.
Como herencia del Huawei Mate S, y siguiendo las últimas tendencias en el apartado de hardware, se espera que Huawei monte en su terminal de gama alta la tecnología Force Touch para la pantalla, un componente que se adelantó al 2D Touch de Apple en los nuevos iPhone 6s.
